Softwrap Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a set of technologies that are embedded in Softwrap Partner Software Titles to deliver authentic software to customers and prevent illegal copying of those software titles. The Softwrap DRM solution uses product activation to limit access to only those users who have acquired a proper license of the software for their own use. It is designed to ensure that Softwrap Partners' customers purchase legitimate software, which provides assurance of a high level of quality, reliability, peace-of-mind, and ease-of-use. By using authentic software, users avoid exposing themselves to a number of risks, including software viruses, inadequate or no product documentation, lack of technical support, software compatibility problems, and ineligibility for product upgrades. How does Softwrap Product Activation work? After downloading and/or installing the electronic software delivery (ESD) version of your chosen Software Title, a simple activation wizard that is built into the software will quickly walk the user through the activation process. Product activation works by linking the distinctive configuration of a user's computer with a unique activation key included with each copy of the software. Then, the activation key is checked against a central database to determine if the user's product is authentic. Users will have the ability to install and re-install their activated software on the same machine an unlimited number of times. They will also be able to transfer their software to a maximum of one additional machine. This will permit users to transfer their software to a laptop or even upgrade to a new computer without having to purchase a new copy of the software. If users wish to install their software on additional computers, another license of the product must be purchased. The ESD version of your chosen Software title will work without product activation (free of charge) for the duration of the trial period or in it's limited functionality state. To ensure continual protection, the product is designed to provide users with a daily reminder during the trial period to complete product activation. They will also receive a reminder to activate their product each time they start/ run their Software Title. Full versions of the product purchased from the trialware version are automatically activated for customers at the time of purchase. The activation process does require the user to register with the Software Publisher by supplying certain identifiable information such as name, licence holder name, phone number and e-mail address. Softwrap DRM product activation: Quick Facts Deploys an authenticated software solution to protect customers from pirated or counterfeit software. Product activation is a completely software-based solution and does not require any special hardware. Product activation is a simple, intuitive process that customers will be able to complete in just a few clicks. Requires a unique activation key to complete installation. The key may be obtained either online or via the Softwrap Call Centre. Full versions of the product purchased from the Trialware version are automatically activated for customers at the time of purchase. This requires no manual entering of activation key. Authentication is performed automatically via the Internet, unless activation is via the Softwrap Call Centre. Customers are only required to complete activation once. (Unless they transfer their product to a new computer). Requires no personally identifiable information for re-activation, other than the license holder name and activation code which can be supplied via email or phone after initial activation. Allows unlimited number of installations and re-installations on same computer. Allows user to transfer same license from one computer to another (limited to 1 time).
